Balancing Bridge

A pedestrian bridge in downtown Portland, the main span is held by a tall inhabitable counterweight. This offers pedestrians the experience of being high up over the river basin, an experience had only in cars on Portland’s other high bridges. Balancing this experience of soaring high above the Willamette, the Fishbowl spirals visitors down into the water, capitalizing on the unique vertical and spatial opportuniuties of the River.
